The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced hands-on Health & Safety Manager with Construction and Rail Engineering experience, who can support change from the ground up, and who can work closely with Line Managers to drive and embed a culture of safety and well-being across all areas of the business.
This is a full-time role within a dynamic business based in our head office at Chemical Lane, Tunstall Stoke-on-Trent.
Travel is required to our transient and fixed worksites throughout the UK to fulfil the duties of a Health & Safety Manager diligently.
Key Responsibilities
Promote a positive, health, safety and environmental culture across the business.
Support managers in the production and reviewing of risk assessments and safe working practices.
Carry out accident / incident investigations, liaising with the HSE, EA and clients where required.
Collate and monitor safety and environmental performance KPIs, producing concise reports as evidence for the annual management review and to meet requirements of other accreditation and certification bodies.
Contribute to the building of the safety and environmental management systems in line with the requirements of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, and the wider business management system.
Represent the business, alongside the compliance team, during external audits and authority visits.
Carry out regular site inspections and site audits, in line with the audit programme.
Have a sound understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation to ensure compliance across these areas.
Produce and conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and inductions, engaging with employees and contractors.
Who You Are
Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within the rail and construction sector, with strong understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
You'll possess strong communication skills and will effectively serve as an ambassador for our company to both clients and the public. Eager to learn new skills, conscientious, you'll take great pride in your daily activities.
Adherence to instructions and procedures is crucial, and you'll ensure that every task is completed with precision and care. You'll have an ability to work independently whilst also being an integral part of our team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment
