"I am hugely proud of our 'Hi-Viz' LGBTQ+ Affinity Network and all that has been achieved within our business and industry. As a network, we aim to uplift, acknowledge and empower LGBTQ+ colleagues working across our business. Also, through education and awareness, we work to encourage a positive culture where everyone can be their true self, no matter how they identify.
As someone who themselves considered whether the construction industry would be right for them and accepting of who they are, it is so encouraging to see the steps that the business and the network are taking. From sponsoring local Pride events to visual allyship identifiers and so much more, there is a wonderful appetite to support everyone in any way possible. It's refreshing and rewarding and 100% the right thing to do."
Aron Simpson-Webb, Internal Communications Manager & LGBTQ+ Affinity Group Lead
"I joined the business and met my partner around the same time and I have always felt really comfortable chatting and sharing dating stories with my colleagues. They shared in my excitement in the early days and I always have felt comfortable that I can be myself.
Our LGBTQ+ Affinity group has made this even easier as I have been able to network with colleagues across the wider business and build a stronger LGBTQ+ network".

Wear it with Pride
Our 'Wear it with Pride' campaign enables our employees to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Our people can choose to wear an AIUK pride badge on their lanyard. This small action helps to raise awareness, encourage discussion, education and even help someone open up more to employees who are fully supportive.
We have signed up to 'Building Equality' an alliance of construction consultants, engineers, developers, contractors and institutions who are passionate about working together and harnassing the collective power of LGBTQ+ inclusion in the construction, engineering and built environment industry.
