"Our Aggregate Industries Disability Affinity (A.I.D.A) Group has signed up to the Hidden disabilities sunflower scheme to offer better assistance to our colleagues and customers in need of additional support.

This scheme includes lanyards branded with the distinctive sunflower symbol, which discretley indicates that the wearer may require additional support, help or a little more time. It aims to assist people with disabilities that are not always immediately obvious - such as autistic spectrm condition, dementia, visual impairments or those who are hard of hearing."

Jack's Story

"I have a diagnosis of Autism and Dyspraxia. I am currently a student at University studying an Education Studies and Inclusion degree.  I initially completed a three-week work placement with AIUK based remotely within the HR department reviewing unseen disabilities, diversity and inclusion within the company. They invited me back to complete a four month internship, gaining more in-depth experience across the different HR teams within Aggregate Industries.

I am also part of A.I.D.A, where we are reviewing the disability inclusive culture within the company. My diagnosis has given me challenges over the years, but I have had fantastic support here in order to overcome these barriers enabling me to develop coping strategies."
