Learning and development is an important part of our business, helping us ensure our workforce are skilled, achieve their full potential and progress throughout the business during their career. By constantly challenging ourselves we learn and grow - and we are passionate about ensuring our people do just that. You can reach your potential here too.
"My journey with Aggregate Industries has been thoroughly challenging and rewarding. Joining the Graduate scheme and being with the business for 20 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work extensively across our various divisions and built a great network of colleagues along the way.
I’ve been supported in terms of my personal and professional development both in the UK and by our parent company in Europe. In early 2021 I was promoted to the Executive Committee and am now very much looking forward to helping grow the business further and develop the next generation of business leaders."
Steve Curley, Managing Director - Cement
"Whilst carrying out my Bachelors in Civil Engineering I joined Aggregate Industries back in 2012 (then known as Bardon Contracting) on a placement year. I was taken away with the empowerment and faith that the management and the company showed in their young talent and future leaders.
I rejoined after completing my degree and since have progressively received opportunities to excel my training and career. I am now helping the company move in it's direction of being eco-friendly and its strategy for future growth in my current role as National Recycling Manager."
Samir Shanker, National Recycling Manager and ED&I Lead
“With a Masters Degree and a postgraduate qualification in Management & Leadership, as well as a Diploma in Asphalt Technology I have enjoyed fantastic progression within Aggregate Industries, forging a career path working in internal sales during my earlier career and then progressing to a Sales Manager; managing the regional customer centres at Bardon Hill and now working as an Area Manager, for our Asphalt division.
I have loved that I have been able to utilise my studies to develop a hugely satisfying and rewarding career - leading some absolutely brilliant teams - and it leaves me excited for what the future holds.”
Jodie Hill, Area Manager - Asphalt
"Joining the business in the mid 90’s I’ve grown my career as well as my family with Aggregate Industries culminating in being appointed to the ExCo in early 2021.
Working in various roles across our portfolio has meant I’ve worked with some great people over the years and I now have the privilege of leading our Asphalt division - a role I’ve cherished for a long time! I’m incredibly passionate about creating high performing teams and I love the culture we’re creating here with people fundamental to our continued success."
Vicky Smith, Managing Director - Asphalt
“Joining Aggregate Industries a little under 10 years ago I’ve had the opportunity to really push and grow my career. Working initially in the Procurement department I’ve moved out of the function, had a spell as a General Manager for one of our larger precast concrete sites and now lead our Asphalt business in the Midlands.
This for me exemplifies the variety on offer in the company if you’re prepared to work for it and take your chances. These opportunities coupled with the excellent development interventions we have on offer have really helped me build a career and I’d love those of you reading this to come and join us and do the same!”
Shaun Elliot, General Manager - Asphalt
