We are looking for a Technical Superintendent to join our small team of shore side management based at our site in Portsmouth.

Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager, you will be responsible for all technical matters on board the assigned vessels ensuring that company policies and procedures including requirements of Flag State, Class and other applicable regulations are effectively implemented, in order to to contribute to safe, compliant and cost-effective operation. You will provide effective leadership to the crew, particularly to Engineer Officers, motivating them to continually improve their performance and safety culture on board the vessel.

Other elements to the role include:

  • Deputising for the DPA when they are unavailable, holding to their obligations and access to senior management.
  • Preparing technical budget including dry docking specs and cost, with associated monitoring and control of expenditure.
  • Effectively maintaining and implementing the Planned Maintenance System, Defect Management System including Technical Spare and Inventory Management.
  • Planning, executing and completing refit/drydock in a timely manner including other statutory surveys and inspections.
  • Performing audits and inspections and producing technical reports and analysis as required and advised.

What will you bring?

  • Preferably Class 1 Chief Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency with sea going
    experience in a senior rank at sea (Chief or Second Engineer).
  • Previous shore-based experience as Technical Superintendent or experience in similar roles;
  • Extensive knowledge of the technical management of vessel including dry docking experience
    and the ISM Code and other marine legislations.
  • Ability to plan and organise effectively, be adaptable and flexible and have a desire to drive
    continual improvement in their self and others.
  • Confidence to make decisions as and when required, with strong leadership skills.
  • Live within a short commutable distance from the site.
