Quarry Development Planner (Ref:10341)

We have a unique opportunity for a Quarry Development Planner at our Flagship Super Quarry - Glensanda. Within this diverse role you will assist with quarry and operational planning and development providing design and monitoring support associated with excavations, tips, stockpiles, lagoons, restoration landforms and mineral extraction and restoration covering primary, Secondary, Silt Tip and Rhugh Garbh operations.

 

About the role

 

You will be assisting with the management of planning consents, conditions and compliance including environmental and biodiversity monitoring and reporting.

 

Other elements to the role include:

  • Assisting the Geotechnical Specialist with Geotechnical Assessments and Tunnel Inspections, review of reports and transfer of all recommendations into Management Action Plans
  • Site engineer for Silt Tip, overseeing its development to final design, providing the team with daily, weekly and monthly plans
  • Provide Quarry management with geotechnically sound quarry designs and advice in compliance with Quarries Regulations 1999, including stability of slopes, ramps and haul roads associated with mineral extraction, tips, stocks, lagoons and restoration landforms;
  • Assistance with interim and 'life-of-mine' quarry phasing schemes and plans
  • Provision of geological advice and guidance helping to ensure efficient operations
  • Calculation of and budgeting for overburden stripping including enabling works and environmental management
  • Mapping of mineral extraction, and consistency of raw feed and products
  • Provision of advice and guidance in related specialism such as hydrogeology, and technical (e.g. product QA where affected by raw material variability)
  • Mapping of Environmental and Biodiversity aspects and impacts across the site
  • Mapping of all services including electricity and water across the site to aid planning and execution of all excavations and tips
  • Completion and reporting of stock surveys, updating plans etc.
  • Ensure geotechnical activities comply with corporate policies and procedures
  • Carry out Geotechnical inspections and Reg 32 appraisals across site, reporting and defects and ensuring all remedial actions are undertaken

 

​What will you bring?

 

  • Geotechnical level 4
  • Experience of surveying and setting out using total station or GPS survey equipment
  • Previous use of CAD and LSS is desirable
  • Experience of borehole drilling and supervision of drilling projects
  • Self-motivated, with initiative and a proactive approach
  • Demonstrable experience of a similar or equivalent role
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relations with others
  • Highly organised with demonstrable planning and delivery capabilities
  • Be able to plan and prioritise effectively
