Mechanical Fitter

Working as part of the on-site Maintenance team, the mechanical fitter will play a key role in maintaining the sites fixed and portable assists.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities 

 

  • Mechanical strip down, inspection, modification and fitting of main and sub assembly components
  • Disassembly, Cleaning, Inspection and Re-assembly of mechanical systems, particularly transmission systems, gearboxes and rotating equipment
  • Use of technical drawings to interpret the presented information into an inspection report and subsequent assembly
  • Use of engineering measuring equipment such as micrometres and DTI's to check tolerances against a specification and report findings
  • Use of overhead and Jib cranes to move heavy equipment safely
  • Read drawings, identify components, assemble, repair or modify mechanical equipment
  • Ability to complete technical documentation as work progresses
  • Maintenance mobile plant checks in line with suppliers guidelines
  • Work closely with the Operations Team to understand their needs implementing any necessary remedial actions
  • Ensure all daily, weekly and monthly checks are carried out as per manufacturer’s recommendations, supplementing these checks where viable to improve reliability and implement best practice. 
  • Ensure workshops, plant rooms and other areas associated with maintenance are kept to an acceptable (clean and tidy) standard. 
  • Completing daily log sheets and booking out of parts using SAP
  • Carry out lubrication activities across the plant in line with PM schedule and follow up on all necessary repairs to ensure the lubrication strategy is fulfilled.

 

What you will bring

 

  • Strong mechanical fitting and/or HME experience
  • Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold a mechancial engineering qualification
  • Responsiveness to customer queries with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • A practical and logical nature in order to gain full knowledge and understanding of the products
  • Experience with mechanical fitting work, within an industrial and/or manufacturing environment
  • Machinery maintenance experience
  • Proactive work attitude and friendly and adaptable working attitude
