Environment Advisor - North (Ref:10297)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environment Advisor - North to effectively support our Environment Manager in delivering our objectives and targets and providing value added technical, specialist, Environmental support and guidance to the operational business whilst working in partnership with other functions.

 

About the role

 

As the Environment Advisor, you will be managing UK-based environmental projects to create best practices / maturity in environmental programmes and performance and ensuring the business remains compliant.

 

Elements to the role include:

 

  • Providing assistance to site and unit managers by explaining permit requirements and delivering practical advice and training as to how to achieve compliance / conformance with internal requirements
  • Develop and manage electronic management systems for the recording of data and completion of regulatory returns
  • Leading / supporting with UK interpretation and implementation of Group Environmental requirements
  • Support with the development of the overall strategy of continuous improvement for Environmental initiatives
  • Identifying and championing Country-wide environmental projects which will progress our
  • environmental programme and drive momentum into delivering best in class performance and progress our environmental maturity
  • Become a point of contact for all new and proposed environmental legislation, including preparing responses to consultations, providing briefings to the business and attending seminars and conference
  • Ensure legal requirements are identified and understood at a local level
  • Supporting both the Environment Manager and the HS&E Systems Manager in ensuring that our management system continually develops and improves, in line with both Company and ISO expectations
  • Written reports required to log findings and produce recommendations for remedial measures where required. Follow up audits will be necessary to ensure compliance. Excellent IT skills required

 

What will you bring?

 

  • Need to hold or willing to work towards an Environmental Degree or equivalent
  • Required to have or commit to IEMA Associate certificate
  • Minimum 5 years of environmental experience within an Environment function or in an operational leadership role with a focus on environmental matters required
  • Proven success and effectiveness in delivering environmental initiatives
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • Strong communication skills with the ability and appetite to work collaboratively across the HS&E team and wider business to build effective working relations with others
  • Willingness to travel around the UK operations. UK driving license therefore necessary
