We are currently looking for an Estimator or Senior Estimator to lead accurate commercial pricing across our North West Region contracting business. About the role
Reporting to our Managing Estimator, you’ll be responsible for all estimating functions from our Contracting office working on commercial tenders involving surfacing works and minor civils for the Northern paving business.
Other elements to the role include:
Understanding and interpreting the commercial and technical requirements of each bid and making due allowance for all requirements that may place the company at risk or provide commercial opportunities
Ensuring work is delivered in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner in accordance with the policies of the company and the Integrated Management System
Attending bid launch meetings with submissions and operational staff where required
Providing information to submissions team where required throughout the tender process
Carrying out customer / client visit to maintain and improve good working relationships
Understanding the scope of sub-contract works required within each bid and ensure that subcontract quotations are robust and based upon approved and competent suppliers
Following up on all enquiries priced and updating estimate log as appropriate
Acting as the customer contact during the bid process, updating the contract file and responding to customer requests for information
Delivering contract reviews on completed schemes with site management to ensure insights from the initial estimate stage are used for future bids
Maintaining an up to date and working knowledge of all HSEQ requirements
Supporting junior team members in estimating practice
What will you bring?
Knowledge of the Surfacing Industry preferred
Ideally qualified to HNC level
Proficient using Microsoft Office (in particular Excel)
Familiarity with estimating software (Causeway or similar)
Familiarity with NEC form of Contracts
Highly motivated and willing to focus and commit
Dealing with different stakeholders with differing levels of knowledge
Excellent communicator, with a high attention to detail
